From 17 - 19 November, Wil Offermans has been invited by the Conservatoire Populaire de musique, danse et théâtre, Geneve to work with their flutists. These workshops will take place on 18 and 19 Nov. with about 100 flute-students. During these days they will be working on various of his ensemble compositions, including Dance with Me, Jungle Dance and Itsuki-no-Komoriuta. On 17 Nov. he presents a solo recital, accompanied by flute teachers of the Conservatoire populaire de musique, which will start at 18:00 (Studio de Agostini). On sunday 19 Nov. the project will be concluded by a spectacular final concert at 18:00 (Salle Frank-Martin). See the photo series of the event by clicking the image on the right.
On 21 October, Wil Offermans will present a Flute Ensemble Day at the Musikschule of Biberach in Germany. During the day, he will work with the flutists on various subjects and pieces, including Eternal Winds and Voices of Nagasaki. The 26th edition of the international Flute Summer Course by Dutch flutist-composer Wil Offermans has been held from July 22nd until 29th, 2017 in Sayalonga (Malaga), Spain with participants from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain and the USA. In this exotic and inspiring ambiance and a climate of dynamic nature and cultural inspiration Offermans conducted the course, sharing his contemporary approach on flute playing with the participants. The flute quintet Forbidden Valley by Wil Offermans has now been published at Musikverlag Zimmermann, Germany. The composition is for: 3 flutes, alto and bass flute, or for the exceptional low flutes quintet: bass flute, bass flute F, contrabass flute, contrabass flute F and double contrabass flute. The score includes part scores for both combinations. Using tongue pizzicati, wind tones and interlocking structures, Forbidden Valley discloses an imaginative sound space and a musical eco-system where each element coexists and interrelates with other elements. From 28th April until 1st May, Wil Offermans has been in Zagreb to work with the Zagreb Flute Ensemble on various of his pieces (Itsuki-no-Komori-Uta, Bamburia and Dance with Me). Other collaborators include the Academy of Music Zagreb and the University of Zagreb. Offermans also presented various classes, including a class on circular breathing and a Thumpy class for children and teachers. Together they finished the project with a concert on April 30th at 18:00 in the KD Vatroslav Lisinski Hall, Zagreb, which was recorded by the Croatian Radio.
New video of Eternal Winds, a composition by Wil Offermans, performed by the Flute Choir of the Royal Music Conservatory of Mons (Belgium) with flute professors: Marc Grauwels, Gérard Noack and Jean Prévot. This piece includes various extended techniques like wind tones, whisper tones and multiphonics. The piece is published by Musikverlag Zimmermann and suitable for both flute octet as well as flute ensemble.
Quintessenz and Wil Offermans
The new composition Forbidden Valley (3 flutes; alto; bass flute) by Wil Offermans has been premiered by the flute ensemble Quintessenz at the DGfF Flute Festival 2017 on 11th March at the evening concert in the main hall of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. This spring Forbidden Valley will be published by Musikverlag Zimmermann (for: 3 flutes, alto, bass flute; as well as a low flutes quintet: bass flute, bass flute F, contrabass flute, contrabass flute F and double contrabass flute). 13th Nov. 2016 a Flute Day at the Music School Borken, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany: Flute a with Wil Offermans for flute students of the music schools of Borken, Coesfeld, Ahaus and Bocholt. The day includes ensemble playing, Thumpy flute, ethnic flutes story and a final concert with all participants.

A Flute Day by Wil Offermans with flute students of the music schools of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Puerto de Santa Maria and others. The event took place on 1st and 2nd April 2016 in the Conservatorio Elemental Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain. The presentation concert was in the nearby Auditorio de la Merced. Musikverlag Zimmermann just released two new flute compositions by Wil Offermans:
Waltz of the Wolves - for two flutes, a most enjoyable and playful duet. The work was commissioned by the Netherlands Flute Academy for Suzanne Wolff and Emily Beynon. Duration: about 4 minutes. Level: 3-4 (6).
Eternal Winds - for 8 flute players, an exciting hymn to the wind and flute sound throughout times. Optionally it can be performed by any (mega) flute ensemble by involving the additional, easy grade Wind Folk part. The work was commissioned by the Netherlands Flute Academy and premièred by a mega flute orchestra of 585 flute players. Duration: about 9 minutes. Level: 3-5 (6).
