Tsuru-no-Sugomori Video by Wil Offermans in Japan
A new YouTube video of Wil Offermans performing his flute arrangement of the traditional Japanese shakuhachi piece Tsuru-no-Sugomori (鶴の巣籠り) at a concert in Heishin-do (the former Kazama family residence and an important cultural property of Japan) in Tsuruoka-city, Yamagata, Japan on 18 October 2024. Production was done by Tsuruoka Research Centre of Sustainable Society. This flute arrangement by Wil Offermans intensely integrates extended flute techniques, such as circular breathing, wind tones and bamboo tones, while concentrating on a most fluid and relaxed breathing. He made this arrangement with the support of shakuhachi master Katsuya Yokoyama. See comprehensive information on extended flute techniques at Offermans' website For the Contemporary Flutist Online. This flute-arrangement of Tsuru-no-Sugomori has been published by music publisher Zimmermann, Germany and is available via your local music dealer or get it online at Schott Music.
